Spartanburg County Detention Facility

Spartanburg County Detention Facility staff provide security for the Spartanburg County Courthouse. Careful screening procedures are utilized to assure the safety of everyone.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE COURTHOUSE. If you have any of these items in your possession, you will be asked to take them to your vehicle and secure them prior to entering the courthouse. DO NOT ask the officer to hold them for you.
Firearms* Scissors Knives Corkscrews Aerosol Hairsprays Screwdrivers Other Aerosol Products Non-working Electronic Devices	Pepper Spray Heavy Keys Mace Markers Razor Blades Padlocks Knitting Needles Heavy Chain Items	Glass Items Tools Heavy Metal Belts Nail, Screws, Etc. Handcuff Keys Metal Forks, Spoons, Etc. Combustible Liquids
Or any other item(s) that can be used as a weapon *Except for law enforcement officers acting in their official capacities and court officials identified pursuant to section 23-31-240 of the South Carolina Code of laws, NO ONE, (including those issued a permit to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to 23-31-215) may enter the courthouse with a firearm of any description. Persons found in violation may be prosecuted pursuant to 23-31-215 and if convicted must be fined not less than $1,000 or imprisoned for no more than one (1) year, or both, at the discretion of the court and/or have permit revoked for (5) years.

WARNING

ALL CELLULAR TELEPHONES, PAGERS, OR OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES MUST BE TURNED OFF UPON ENTERING THE COURTHOUSE. PERSONS ENTERING ANY COURTROOM WITH SUCH DEVICES AND WHO DISRUPT COURT ARE SUBJECT TO HAVING SAID DEVICES CONFISCATED BY THE COURT AND MAY BE FOUND IN CONTEMPT BY THE PRESIDING JUDGE.
