The jail's color guard attended the ceremonies and competed in a "color guard" competition on
May 15, 2006. In the interim, they attended the candle light ceremony on May 14, 2006, and served as "VIP
Escorts" for the family members of those officers who have lost their lives. They also served as "honor
guards" along with other officers for the President of the United States during his appearance to pay his
respects to the deceased officers. There were 24 color guard teams participating in the competition.
