Spartanburg County deputies arrest man who they say escaped home detention

A man who authorities say escaped from home detention in June by removing his ankle monitor was captured just before noon today.

Rashawn L. Reeder, who already faced a charge of murder and two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill in connection with a March 2009 shooting, was taken into custody at Westgate Apartments by Spartanburg County deputies and State Law Enforcement Division agents.

According to a written statement from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, Reeder was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.

Reeder and Darius Cathcart were charged in the March 14, 2009, shooting death of 16-year-old Duncan Lamar "AJ" Geter. Reeder also is charged in the shooting of Bryant Miller, 22. Reeder was injured by gunfire in the altercation.
