Court House Survey StartsFirst Plans to Be Ready in 2 MonthsBy ED WILLSA survey to determine office space needs in the proposed new $1,000,000 County Court House was started Monday by Architect Harold Woodward. THE PLANS should be ready in 6 to 8 weeks, Mr. Woodward said. The tour of other court houses will be made by architects possibly accompanied by members of Spartanurg County Board, he added. Mr. Woodward said the County Board will consider his recommendations and make a choice between at least 2 alternate plans before work begins on final drafts. Time needed for final plans should run some 3 to 5 months, he said. The architect said he will name associates to assist on special features of the building. A Washington, D.C., landscape architect and city planner will study the site, the traffic layout and parking needs, he said. WHILE NO details of the proposed building have been decided already, it will definitely not have a jail on top, as some have proposed, the architect said. Mr. Woodward said he expects to accelerate work on the plans somewhat because of threats of war scarcities. No surveys or studies will be omitted or rushed through, however, he said.
