New Courthouse Plaque OrderedDue to an "oversight" in the number of names on the plaque in the lobby of the new Spartanburg County Courthouse, the plaque has been taken down. A new plaque has been ordered which will carry the names of approximately 30 officials responsible for the new structure. Robert Ashmore, clerk of the county board of control, said Tuesday afternoon, "it was merely an oversight when only names of county members appeared on the original plaque." "Since the original plaque was installed, we decided it should carry the names of the present delegation, senators and other officials responsible for construction of the building," Mr. Ashmore said. Members of the present county board will remain on the new plaque along with names of the contractor and architect of the building. Mr. Ashmore says the order has been placed for the new plaque and that it should be installed sometime this month.
