Under the leadership of Jail Administrator Larry Powers and the Home Detention Program Supervisor Nancy Vinson, Spartanburg County Detention Facility has tripled the size of the program over the past year reaching a peak of 59 bracelets on ankles in this past month. Along with Nora Fife, the Home Detention program's administrative assistant, Ms. Vinson's section supervises 168 offenders, including juveniles and adults. They show a success rate in their Home Detention program of 68%. With nearly a third of these participants on SCRAM, they clearly see the value of continuous alcohol monitoring and are enthusiastic supporters of the technology willing to speak with others regarding their SCRAM program. It should be further noted, their program and their positions are entirely funded through collections from the participants. This is a well-conceived, well-run model program we look forward to working with for years to come.  |
